A reader reports that his Medicare account has been billed four separate times for Covid test kits.

The question is:  Is it fraud or is it a Biden program to use Medicare funds inappropriately.  If it is fraud, it seems strange for covid test kits to arrive with the names and addresses of the senders.

” In April last, I received a shipment of over-the-counter Covid test kits that were not ordered and for which Medicare was billed $96.00. I reported the fraud to Medicare on 5/8/2023. Subsequently, I received a letter from CMS agent First Coast Service Options, Inc., dated 6/16/2023, stating that, “… This case will be escalated to the Unified Program Integrity Contractor …”

” My recent Medicare Summary Notice, dated 6/27/2023, listed four (4) separate billings for Covid test kits, amounting to charges totaling $536 and for which Medicare paid $384. Again, I reported the matter to Medicare, spending approximately 40-minutes on the phone, “bouncing” between three separate agents before “fraud-claim forms” were finally prepared.

” I reported the matter of all five fraudulent billings to the office of Senator Jerry Moran (KS).

“A representative phoned me today (7/10) from Senator Moran’s local office. Per the conversation, I’m to receive by mail a release-form to sign that, in my understanding, allows the Senator’s office to become involved with Medicare on my behalf.”
