Once Upon A Time in America a Free-roaming Kid or Childhood Injury Was Not Proof of Child Abuse

Daisy Luther asks a good question: How can there be rebels when society forces parents to raise a nation of weenies? http://www.askaprepper.com/25-things-we-did-as-kids-that-would-get-someone-arrested-today/#comment-383267

In the 1940s and 1950s children had even more freedom. Indeed, if the CPS had existed then and police behaved the way they do today, most parents would have been sent to prison for child abuse and most boys would have been shot dead by police for playing with guns, knives, and explosive materials (fireworks), or jailed for taking such things to school. Funny how these “unprotected” kids grew up to be so successful and well adjusted.

Of course, in those days religious and moral mores were stronger, neighborhoods were still intact and homogeneous, and kids were safer from predators. Multiculturalism, real estate developers, and a weakening of moral character did a lot to change that.

Perhaps in another column Daisy Luther will explain how things went so wrong. How did it come to be that people raised to be independent accepted such massive state interference in family life and wrongful police behavior?
