The top US and NATO commander in the country, Stanley McChrystal, has offered his resignation. The military chief was summoned to the White House over comments he made in an article in Rolling Stone Magazine. In the interview, entitled the Runaway General, McChrystal made repeated insults about the President and his administration. President Obama says he wants to speak directly to the General, before making any decision. Paul Craig Roberts, former assistant Treasury Secretary under Ronald Reagan, believes McChrystal was just letting off steam.
